Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Laksamana or its short name SMK Tengku Laksamana (SMKTL), is a national secondary school located in Alor Setar.

In 2023, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tengku Laksamana has 479 male students and 347 female students, making the total number of students 826. It has a total of 69 teachers.

The original name of this school is Sekolah Pelajaran Lanjutan Alor Setar, founded on April 2, 1962. Male students board at Sultan Abdul Hamid College while female students attend Sultanah Asma High School. The number of students at that time was 372 and the number of teachers was 13.

In 1964, these students were transferred to Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Korok Old and Sekolah Kebangsaan Sungai Korok Baru.

The implementation of the Multi-Major Education Policy in 1965 caused the school to change its name to Sekolah Menengah Telok Chengai (L) specifically for male students and Sekolah Menengah Tun Sharifah Rodziah for female students. Students began moving into the current building in January 1966.

This school was inaugurated on March 23, 1969 by the Honorable Mr. Mohd. Khir Johari (Tan Sri) Minister of Education at that time. The first members of the School's Board of Directors were YAB Dato' Sri Dr. Mahathir bin Mohamad and Dato' Ooi Eng Hong.

At the beginning of 1985, this school began to accept female students and the name of this school changed to Sekolah Menengah Tengku Laksamana in March 1988.
